minutes of the first meeting

Br. Altaf Hussain mentioned that there are boiler plate language for boards of advisors and executive directors, and as such, there is no need to recreate the wheel and write them ourselves. We agreed to use them as a basis and customize to fit our specific need. Toward that end, the details below are meant to be fit into that model, and hence aren't necessarily comprehensive.

Board of Advisors
To determine the long term goals of MYNA and ensure we are on track.
To monitor, review, guide and hold accountable the executive director.
To develop and manage long term funding.

7 members - ISNA rep (currently Br. Monem), MSA rep (currently Sr. Lubaba), [Sr. Narjes Misherjhi], (needs to be asked) [Br. Waheed Mustafa], (needs to be asked) Br. Riyad Shamma Br. Asad Siddiqui Br. Asim Mohammad Br. Naeem Mohammad (if he has time now he's with IR) + 2 ex-officio (Exec. Dir, MYNA Chair)

The following are also considered as backups Br. Brian Ingram, Hamed Omar, *an Alim program grad

Components - finance person, geographic, local activisim,
This board goes 1 year, then longer terms for those who performed.

Meet: Conf call every 2 weeks. If you miss two in a row you're out. Or 3 in a quarter. Or not doing 2 assigned tasks. Pysical March 1st in NJ at ISNA conf. or March 18th Chicago ISNA edc. conf. Physical meeting every quarter. July 4th Dallas ISNA conf or May 23rd Kansis hosting ISNA conf. + 1 youth camp org. Finances 40k MYNA money 25k fm ISNA 10k loans for fundraising campaign fm ISNA. 5-10k from Islamic relief

Exec. Director...
To support MYNA activities, fill in where necessary, be a mediator. Tasks Assisting/Supplementing/Supporting camps, events, etc. [educational, fun/sports] Local community service. Develop a database of activists. Develop training events for advisors, leaders.

Organizational - setup a place that's myna (office, website, etc) Certification program for advisors, counselors and youth leaders. Develop a campaign so that at the ISNA conv. everyone knows and comes to myna, signs up, etc. parent supporter, myna supporter, etc.

End of year, a local masjid/schhool, it knows what myna does and has contact. If they don't have a yg, they can call and get one started.
